Caring for Your Painted White Shaker Cabinets

Periodically check that door and drawer hardware is still tight, since normal daily use can loosen screws slightly over months and years, and a quick tightening keeps everything operating smoothly.

The sink cabinet and any cabinets next to a dishwasher see more moisture exposure than the rest of the kitchen. Wipe up splashes around the sink promptly, and check occasionally under the sink for any slow leaks from supply lines or the drain trap, since standing water against a cabinet floor is one of the more common sources of long term damage in any kitchen. If your dishwasher door releases steam when opened, give the adjacent cabinet door a quick wipe afterward rather than letting condensation sit on the painted surface.

A simple seasonal routine keeps your kitchen looking its best with minimal effort:

• Wipe down all cabinet surfaces with a damp cloth and check for any missed spots near the stove and sink
